The Annual Dorset show and sale at Carlisle saw a top price of 2900gns achieved - the highest priced Dorset ram of 2018.

This was the Male Champion and Reserve Overall Champion, a shearling ram from David Rossiter’s Huish flock who had also won breed Champion at Devon County and Royal Cornwall Shows this year.

Huish Zenith was sired by Downkillybegs Unique and out of a homebred ewe by Blackhill Kipper. He was purchased by Messrs Downes from Ceredigion.

Two ram lambs in a row sold for 1050gns - the first of these was Ballytaggart Alonso from Thomas Wright’s Ballymoney based flock. This lamb sired by Braeview Xterminator was purchased by Messrs Weston from Chesterfield, Derbyshire.

Following Ballytaggart Alonso into the ring was David Rossiter’s Huish Apollo who also sold for 1050gns. This lamb sired by Huish Fanfare and out of a homebred Bennachie Nimrod sired ewe, won 1st prize at both Devon County and Royal Cornwall Shows this year and was purchased on the day by Messrs Gray from Ikley, West Yorkshire.

A ewe lamb from Graham Cubitt achieved a new centre record for a Dorset ewe lamb when it sold for 1050gns. Kildowney 000452 sired by Downkillybegs Watson was born in September 2017 and has been running with Kildowney Zodiac. This lamb had won 2nd prize in the pre-sale show and went on to be purchased by Messrs Weston.

The same purchaser also bought the Female and Overall Champion, another ewe lamb from Graham Cubitt sired by Downkillybegs Watson. This was Kildowney 000433 who was sold for 1000gns.

Also at 1000gns was the 1st prize shearling gimmer from Joe Larder. Byeways Zara was sired by Huish U6275 and out of a Rossiz Nemesis daughter.

Zara was sold scanned in lamb to 1800gns Pembroke Autumn Gold and purchased on the day by Messrs Hanna from Newtonards.

The 2nd prize ram lamb Kildowney Amigo from Graham Cubitt sold for 1000gns. This was another to be sired by Downkillybegs Watson and he was purchased by Messrs Byrnes from Turriff, Aberdeenshire.

The 1st prize ram lamb and Reserve Male Champion from Thomas Wright was purchased by Messrs Pritchard from Gwynedd for 950gns. The September born Ballytaggart A1971 was sired by Bannside Xavi and out of a hombred Kildowney White Lightning sired ewe.

Thomas Wright also achieved a new record for the highest priced pen of females to be sold at Carlisle when his first pen of 6 ewe lambs sold for 400gns a head.
